HOTELS & RESORTS
Every Island Whisper project begins with the place — its landscape, culture and identity.
From our signature bespoke hand fan to complete hospitality collections, we create pieces designed to belong naturally within the guest journey.
We don’t start with a catalogue.
We start with the place.
From Destination to Guest Experience
DESIGNED FROM THE PLACE, NOT FROM A CATALOGUE
Design the Story First. Everything Else Follows.
Every hotel belongs to a place, and that place contains the details that can make an experience feel truly its own.
We look at the landscape, architecture, flora, materials, colours, culture and the smaller details that make a destination recognisable.
From there, we develop a creative direction specific to the property. Depending on the project, this may begin with original watercolour artwork, illustration, a material palette or another visual language developed specifically for the hotel.
Only then do we decide what to create.
The result is not a selection of products carrying the same logo, but a collection of pieces connected by one story and designed to belong naturally within the guest experience.
First the place.
Then everything else.
CREATED FOR THE GUEST JOURNEY
From Signature Hand Fans to Complete Hotel Collections
Island Whisper Atelier creates bespoke pieces that become part of the hotel experience—from the moment a guest arrives to the objects they use, carry and remember after their stay.
Every project begins with the property, its identity and the experience it wants to create. From there, we develop the most appropriate pieces rather than asking the hotel to select from a fixed catalogue.

SINGITA SASAKWA LODGE · TANZANIA
A Bespoke Hotel Collection Inspired by the Serengeti
From original watercolour artwork to handcrafted hand fans, guest-room accessories and travel pieces inspired by the landscape of Tanzania.
Island Whisper Atelier developed a bespoke hospitality collection for Singita Sasakwa Lodge, translating the distinctive identity of this luxury safari property into original artwork and beautifully considered objects for the guest experience.
The creative direction draws from the Serengeti landscape, its wildlife, acacia silhouettes, equestrian heritage and natural material palette. These elements were interpreted across a signature handcrafted hand fan, safari day bag, guest-room valet tray and travel pouch—each designed to feel intrinsically connected to the lodge and its surroundings.
THE CREATIVE DIRECTION
From the Lodge to a Distinctive Visual Language
Under the creative direction of founder and artist Mónica Rodríguez, details from the lodge and its surroundings were first interpreted through original watercolour studies. Wildlife, acacia forms, equestrian references and natural textures were refined into an artistic language created specifically for the property.
A restrained palette of ivory, sand, cognac leather, natural wood and muted greens then guided the selection of materials and finishes. This visual language allowed each piece to feel connected to Singita Sasakwa without relying on repeated logos or identical decoration.
THE BESPOKE COLLECTION
From Original Artwork to Finished Hotel Pieces
The original artwork and material palette were developed into a coordinated collection of finished pieces for Singita Sasakwa Lodge: a signature handcrafted hand fan, a canvas and leather safari day bag, a guest-room valet tray and a travel and toiletry pouch.
Each object carries a different element of the same visual story. Rather than repeating an identical logo or pattern across every product, the artwork, colours, materials and finishing details create a bespoke hotel collection that feels naturally connected to the lodge and its surroundings.
DESIGNED AROUND THE GUEST JOURNEY
Thoughtful Objects for Every Moment of the Stay
Each piece was created with a particular moment of the guest experience in mind.
The signature hand fan accompanies warm afternoons, terraces and outdoor moments. The canvas and leather safari day bag is designed for excursions beyond the lodge, while the valet tray brings the collection into the privacy of the guest room. The travel pouch offers a practical piece that guests can continue using long after departure.
Together, these objects transform the identity of the property into a collection guests can experience, use and remember.
BEYOND THE LOGO
A Collection Recognisable by Its Story
For Singita Sasakwa Lodge, personalisation was expressed through original artwork, natural materials and finishing details inspired by the property—not through the repeated application of a logo.
The handcrafted hand fan, leather valet tray and travel pouch share a restrained palette of ivory, ochre, cognac and muted green. Each piece carries a different element of the safari story, creating a coordinated bespoke hotel collection without relying on identical decoration.
THE LASTING IMPRESSION
Objects Guests Can Use, Keep and Remember
The most meaningful luxury hotel gifts become part of the guest’s experience rather than simply appearing in the room. A hand fan used on the terrace, a safari bag carried beyond the lodge or a travel pouch taken home can create a tangible connection to the property and its destination.
By combining original artwork, thoughtful product design and carefully selected materials, the Singita Sasakwa collection transforms details from the lodge into useful objects with a life beyond the stay.
From place, to artwork, to object, to memory.
THOMPSON SEVILLE · SPAIN
Bespoke Luxury Hand Fans for Thompson Seville
For the newly opened Thompson Seville, Island Whisper Atelier designed and produced an exclusive hand fan inspired by the city’s orange trees. Created from an original hand-painted watercolour, the piece combines natural-toned wood, an engraved Thompson logo and a fine ochre border painted by hand.
Offered by the hotel as part of its guest amenities, it brings a familiar detail of Seville into the guest experience: beautiful to receive, useful during the stay and designed to be kept.
THE SETTING
Andalusian Heritage, Contemporary Hospitality
Located in Plaza de la Concordia, in Seville’s historic centre, Thompson Seville brings together Andalusian heritage, art and contemporary design.
Our starting point was the city beyond its doors. The orange trees found throughout Seville’s streets and courtyards offered a natural connection between the destination and an accessory guests could carry with them. We translated that inspiration into a design created specifically for the hotel.
THE ORIGINAL ARTWORK
Before It Became a Fan, It Was a Watercolour
We hand-painted an original watercolour for this project, developing a composition of orange branches, leaves and fruit inspired by Seville. The transparency of the colour and the character of the brushwork give the illustration its softness and depth.
The artwork was then adapted to the fan’s fabric and unfolding shape. We considered the placement of each element across the folds, so the composition reveals itself as the fan opens.
This original painting became the creative foundation of the finished piece, giving the hotel its own distinctive design.
MATERIALS & FINISHING
Natural Wood, an Engraved Signature and a Hand-Painted Border
Natural-toned wood brings warmth to the fan and complements the colours of the watercolour artwork. Along the outer edge, a fine ochre line is painted by hand, framing the composition with a carefully considered finishing detail.
The Thompson logo is engraved into the wood, integrating the hotel’s identity with subtlety. Together, the illustration, wood and finishing create a balance between artistic expression and everyday use.
THE GUEST EXPERIENCE
A Little of Seville to Carry Home
As part of Thompson Seville’s guest amenities, the fan is designed to become part of the stay: carried on a walk through the city, opened during a warm afternoon or used while enjoying a quiet moment outdoors.
Its purpose continues beyond the visit. A useful accessory can become part of a guest’s everyday life, bringing back the memory of the hotel and the destination each time it is used.
A thoughtful welcome. A lasting connection to Seville.
DESIGN & PRODUCTION
From Original Watercolour to Final Production
The creative process does not end once the artwork is approved.
Each project continues through sampling, artwork adaptation, material and finish selection, and finally, production.
For Thompson Seville, the original watercolour inspired by the city’s orange trees was translated into a bespoke luxury hand fan and produced exclusively for the hotel, bringing together natural wood, engraved detailing and the hand-painted ochre edge that frames each piece.
From the first brushstroke to final production, every detail tells the same story of Seville.
